Yale-New Haven Hospital

Yale-New Haven Hospital is a nationally recognized, 1,541-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine. The hospital has two New Haven-based inpatient campuses which includes Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, and Smilow Cancer Hospital. YNHH has a combined medical staff of about 4,500 university and community physicians practicing in more than 100 specialties.

Yale New Haven Hhospital serves the community as a public health advocate and provides support and services which respond to the area’s healthcare needs through health education, health promotion, and access to care. Its outreach healthcare services encompass satellite facilities throughout greater New Haven and Connecticut, including the Shoreline Medical Center right here in Guilford.

Yale-New Haven Shoreline Medical Center (YNHSMC) brings the advanced healthcare of a national academic medical center to the Shoreline, with all the comforts and amenities of a community healthcare facility. The facility provides high-quality, convenient outpatient care in the Shoreline area’s largest, most comprehensive medical center.

Opened in 2003, YNHSMC offers ambulatory (outpatient) care, including diagnostic radiology such as CT scanning, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), fluoroscopy, diagnostic X-ray, bone density, and digital mammography.  It provides hospital pre-admission, a blood draw station with laboratory services, nuclear medicine, a one-day surgery center, and an emergency department that is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In affiliation with Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven and the National Cancer Institute-designated Yale Cancer Center, the facility provides convenient care for patients who need daily radiation therapy and cancer care services including support groups. In addition, the facility features a nutrition center offering individualized nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian. Plus there is a series of free health education talks in spring and fall that cover a range of topics from preventing high cholesterol and treating back or neck pain to understanding arthritis and choosing the right vitamins and supplements.

YNHH’s York Street campus and associated ambulatory sites are Magnet-designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. To learn more about YNHH, visit:  www.ynhh.org
